In 2011, Karen Baker started SOHO Productivity Solutions, a business organizing and productivity consulting company based in Houston, Texas. She combines new-school tools and technology with old-school foundations and fundamentals to create customized solutions, to help her clients get organized, be more productive, and take control of their work lives.
“I love the challenge of creating the perfect solution that puts my clients in the best position to achieve their goals by selecting the right tools to take advantage of their resources, talents, & preferences.”
She has a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Duke University, a JD from the University of Houston Law Center, and a master’s in sports management from the University of San Francisco. All three disciplines influence Karen’s unique approach to organizing and productivity.
“Sociology is about learning the impact our surroundings have on our actions. The critical thinking and problem-solving skills from my legal education help me approach challenges from different angles. And my sports career taught me the foundations of successful teamwork, and that the right combination of pieces can be as important as the individual pieces themselves.”
Before starting SOHO Productivity Solutions, Karen worked in the sports industry in operations and media relations for a decade. Not surprisingly, she follows a lot of collegiate and professional sports. She’s especially fanatical about Duke basketball and her hometown Houston Astros.
Karen is a member of the National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals (NAPO) and two of its chapters, NAPO Houston and NAPO Virtual Chapter.
